Nextera Healthcare is a vision
of primary care the way it can
and should be

Welcome to Nextera Healthcare, available at North Vista Medical Center in Firestone, and now in Longmont. Our programs use a monthly membership model to provide the most complete array of primary care services available. We offer open access so that you can see your doctor at a time convenient for you, including before or after work and even on weekends. And, if you prefer, some visits can be conducted over the phone or e-mail, avoiding a trip to the doctor’s office altogether. This can be particularly helpful when you are busy or traveling.

At Nextera Healthcare, the quality of the patient experience is our first priority. Our Board Certified physicians bring you expertise in primary care medicine, including adult medicine, women’s health, and pediatric care. Our doctors also bring you 15 years of combined ER experience and skill dealing with injuries and urgent medical concerns.

With any of our Nextera Healthcare Plans, if you need an appointment or have a question, simply call the office. Your membership fee covers the cost of all of your visits and healthcare provided by our medical staff. There are never any co-pays regardless of how often you need to be seen. Our offices are open 7am-7pm Monday through Friday and 9-Noon on Saturdays. If you require medical attention after-hours, simply call our office and you will be promptly contacted by the on-call provider.

With Nextera Healthcare there is no reason not to get the care that you need.

NOTE: If you are experiencing a life-threatening medical condition, always call 911 immediately!

Learn about the doctors that make Nextera Heathcare so revolutionary.

David Tusek, MD is a Board Certified family doctor and diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is also a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, and often serves as an Emergency Physician in various Colorado Hospitals. Dr. Tusek is passionate about engaging his patients on multiple dimensions, far beyond simply prescribing medications. He strives to assist his patients toward an optimal healing approach which begins with deeply listening to the context of their goals, values, and capacities. Always seeking to identify lifestyle factors related to health and illness, Dr. Tusek also uses state-of-the art diagnostic technologies which go far beyond the usual, conventional approach. “Ideally, the goal is not to simply restore health, but to help bring you to a more optimal state of being than you have experienced before. The goal is for you to thrive!”

Dr. Tusek’s vision of family medicine is one which is broad enough to encompass the tremendous advances in burgeoning fields including anti-aging and regenerative medicine, bioidentical hormone therapies, nutritional genomics (personalized nutrition), and medical genetics. “I am committed to developing an open relationship with my patients which is based on service, honesty, and partnership. Oftentimes, conventional, standard family medicine is only the starting point in my practice. From this solid foundation we can move into areas of much broader awareness, bringing together research from a multitude of fields in effort to identify all of the factors influencing your well-being.”

Dr. Tusek is also actively involved in the advancement of the field of Integral Medicine based on the work of Ken Wilber and writes a blog on IntegralLife.com.  He is a graduate of the Lehigh Valley Family Medicine Residency, a qualitative-research based residency program in Pennsylvania and the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he earned his doctorate.   He is also actively engaged in developing new ideas to improve the condition of American healthcare policy.

On a personal level, the Tusek family has found heaven on earth in Colorado.  He and his wife Kathryn and their daughters enjoy exploring our colorful state on foot, bicycle, skis, and horseback, usually accompanied by their chocolate lab.

Clint Flanagan, MD is Board Certified in Family Medicine, a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Flanagan has nearly 10 years experience as an ER physician and maintains certificates in Advanced Cardiac and Advanced Trauma Life Support. He completed medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center then went on to residency at St Mary’s Family Medicine Program in Grand Junction, Colorado. He’s a diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Flanagan is eager to share his knowledge with patients to help them improve their quality of life. “I appreciate the courage it takes for patients to speak with me about aspects of their health they would like to improve. I strive to facilitate open, reliable communication where patients feel relaxed and at ease in an environment conducive to extreme trust and comfort.”

Dr. Flanagan will help you identify functional imbalances in your physical, hormonal, mental, and nutritional systems, and put the pieces together for you. “I’m passionate about pro-active, preventative medical care and feel it’s my responsibility to guide patients in the right direction. It’s important my patients view me as sincere and trustworthy. Too often our healthcare system practices reactive medicine. I’m a firm believer in optimizing nutrition and exercise rather than focusing on prescriptions as an automatic solution. While medicine has its role at times, too often non-prescription plans aren’t addressed. I want patients to achieve their optimal health and well-being, as naturally as possible.”

Dr. Flanagan enjoys the Colorado lifestyle with his wife and three young, very active children.

Certified Physician Assistant, Patricia Henman joined our practice in 2010 and provides broad-spectrum family medical care services to patients with a caring and gentle approach.  Her special interests include women’s health issues and pediatrics.  Patricia moved to Colorado in 1993 and earned her masters degree as a Physician Assistant at Red Rocks College and St. Francis University.  Patricia believes that taking time to listen deeply to her patients and to understand their underlying goals is critical to her role as a healthcare professional.  As a mother of two boys she enjoys taking them on fun and educational adventures, as well as playing hockey, golf, horseback riding, and reading.

Learn how the Nextera Healthcare doctors developed this visionary program

Several years ago, troubled by the problems their friends, family and patients were experiencing with the healthcare system, primarily the high costs, Dr. Tusek and Dr. Flanagan of the North Vista Medical Center (NVMC), set out to find a solution. Their goal was at once both lofty and simple: to help the typical American family cut their healthcare costs, while improving both the access and the quality of their primary care.  So, they developed a new affordable monthly membership model for Family Medicine, that encourages patients to see their physicians when they need to without additional costs.

Today, we believe that this revolutionary healthcare program is “healthcare the way it should be”.
